STATEMENT: is voldemort a nazi?

[en] is voldemort a nazi? it has just been a little thought - but maybe with a big impact regarding my thoughts about this book which will always remain as one of my most beloved childhood memories. let us start with different aspects that could explain this matter a bit further.

the enigma behind tom riddle and his past, present and future self - namely lord voldemort - is an anagram. tom marvolo riddle (... pay attention to his surname) is an anagram to 'i am lord voldemort', as we have read and seen in harry potter and the chamber of secrets!

the V1 fieldings of nazi germany.

13.06.1944 - this was the date marked in tom riddle's diary we have seen in harry potter part 2. this was the stated date of the V1 fieldings of nazi germany in england. V1 were very effective and brutal bombs to kill as many english people as possible - in colloquial english they were also called 'doodlebugs' or 'buzz bombs' ... and joanne k rowling was born and raised in england ... she must have had this in mind!

mind the acronyms!

do you see the ressemblance of the initials of salazar slytherin to the NS regime (SS)? do you see the ressemblance of the word 'slytherin' to the old german sütterlin script?

supremacist ideology, ehtanasia fantasies and the delusion of pure blood.

what about the delusion of pure blood, the euthanasia fantasies of lord voldemort and his entourage - to clear the world off everyone not determined to be of any value. the agitation against 'mudbloods' - people whose parents are not pure-blooded witches and wizards or purely muggleborn, as it is the case with hermione granger - and the agitation against jews, blacks, romani people or people who weren't german or - at least - purely white?

snape and stauffenberg - only a coincidence?

severus snape (... pay attention to the initials: SS), has the role of the traitor, somewhat a second stauffenberg in a second, a parallel world - a world of wizardry.

adolf hitler and lord voldemort.

what about lord voldemort himself? ... he wasn't a pure wizard, but had a father who was muggleborn, thus a 'halfblood' or 'mudblood'. and what about hitler? he claimed himself to be THE nazi - but as we know he was half jewish himself and not originated in germany but in austria. he killed the jews by stating that anybody needs to be killed who isn't a member of the arian race whose members were supposed to have blonde hair and blue eyes. well, in fact hitler didn't have blue eyes himself ...

also hitler survived several attempted assassinations, just like lord voldemort ( ... in the form of destroyed horcruxes).

well, and in fact voldemort also had a skinhead ... not by choice, actually, but still ... how come ... ?!

arian tendencies within the malfoy family.

what about the entity of slytherin, the entity of voldemorts entourage and the entity of the NS regime?

what about draco malfoy and his father, lucius malfoy, who in fact also looked quite arian, with their blonde hair, their attitudes, their cruelties ... also, the house of slytherin is the house of perfection, of domination. its members want to get on the top of everything, want to achieve the house championship and to come to fame and fortune, cost what it may. some would say that they are only ambitious, but in sight of all we have learned so far, i wouldn't say so.

the war between good and evil.

the war against nazi germany was a war against the evilness in this world - in fact, in the wizards world of harry potter, good is opposing evil, too.

although it is not that simple, as evilness and goodness are a part of every human soul, as hannah arendt already stated in her report about eichmann in jerusalem, where she spoke about the 'banality of evil'. one single human being, no special character, working in a small business, has the ability of killing millions and millions of people, as in the chase of eichmann.

and as you can also see in severus snape, no character in the harry potter series of joanne k rowling is so deeply torn and no one embodies the contradiction of good and bad as perfectly as he does.

a concluding remark.

finally, i just have one thing to say: joanne k rowling. i always thought of her as a genious, persuading millions and millions of children to read with joy and creating a whole new world inside  another one (just like the wizards world existing inside the 'normal' world), but if you dare to take a look behind the scenes, you will find something more: a whole body of philosophy and world history inside them and a try to explain our own world - a try to explain those fundamental questions humanity tried to answer ever since it was created and trying to explain those things everybody craves for - love and friendship.

  10. Hey, dahi.
I'm dealing with this topic at the moment as well, planning to do a researchpaper about it. Therefore I already have a bit of knowledge about this because I'm doing research at the moment. Interesting aspect I haven't come across so far is the Snape-Staufenberg comparison. Would be too much for my topic I guess, but definitely worth thinking about.
If anybody (or you) have got serious additions to that, I'd like to read them. Maybe I could use them for my paper.

    Cheers,
    Rob
