[en] Some days ago i crossed that notorious age border and lined up in the group of the so called 'Thirtysomethings'.

Crossing the border – fears about social conventions, the future and self-doubt.

Of course i contemplated about this very special age in advance and about the social conventions concomitant with it.

I must admit that there was a whole lot of fear inside of me when i thought about this whole new chapter of my life. And this fear was accompanied by a whole lot of doubt and frustration regarding my surroundings and my life. I guess that the latter emerged because of my last relationship which turned out as a complete failure. Once again.

If i'm honest i have to admit that it has always been my deepest desire to be married by the age of 30, to be a loving wife and mother. But well, after this complete failure it was more than impossible to succeed. How should you accomplish all of these wishes within the course of a year?! I have lost my faith in fairytales quite some time before.

During the second half of '17 i began to feel such a fear of not being able to find THE ONE in time (or some one close to that) and having to spend the rest of my days alone – maybe as a spin-off of the notorious crazy cat lady many of you might know from the simpsons.

Not to mention this fear of not being able to find a job i love and which would secure my living without having to work 24/7 – yep, these are definitely not the perks of being self-employed.

The irks and quirks of searching for THE ONE.

There also was this thought that anything seemed by far easier decades ago. And no, i do NOT want to trivialize the feminist movement. You still cannot talk about a real emancipation. There still is loads and loads to do regarding it. Just think about the fact that women weren't allowed to vote until the year 1971 – in Switzerland !!! My sisters will still have to fight for their rights and i guess that it will still take decades (or even centuries) until society can finally talk about gender mainstreaming.

But it is my personal desire to raise a family. It dawned on me, last year. And well, THIS definitely seemed a whole lot easier in times past. But in this day and age it seems more than difficult to find a man who wishes for the same.

The irks and quirks of searching for a partner and the problems of online dating … They shouldn't be new to many of my female readers, huh? And of course my male readers, likewise. Human beings can be so silly at times.

Well, there were some very frustrating date experiences i had to make during my time on Tinder and such … and then my hairdresser also started to call me 'Tinderella' – i didn't like it at first but in retrospect it sounds really funny to me, too.

And who doesn't have some funny anecdotes to tell about their worst date experiences? Believe me guys, i also had to learn it the hard way (and if you want to hear about it, just tell me in the comment section – i might prepare a separate post regarding this matter!)

The importance of positive affirmation.

But this year i finally came to the conclusion that, well, every day is a gift. And every day you're alive is wonderful and definitely a real miracle. Simply exclude one coincidence which finally led to your existence and you wouldn't exist at all. That's an amazing though!

I promised myself to remind me of this on any day that i feel sad and blue. And finally, i am more than curious this all new chapter of my life where so many things will happen. Adventurous things. Marvellous things. Beautiful and strange things. This new chapter of my life, when oh so many things will change. For the better.

After all, the journey is the reward.

With positive affirmations about one's own existence in mind, what can go wrong?
Well, in fact I don't look my age at all ... You guys would never notice that i'm a thirtysomething, which would change if you examine the cosmetics in my bathroom cabinet, where finally anti-ageing creams of all kind found their way into.
And me, i only notice my age when regarding my neck pain which already advanced in number. But externally? No way! And i'm quite chuffed about that. Especially when trying to buy sparkling wine and getting asked for ID – and yes, i'm not pulling your leg!

Who has already reached this new chapter of their life or is facing it? Are you or have you been scared of becoming a Thirtysomething?

In keinster Weise !!!

Alles Liebe Marie
