FOOD: pancake tower with blueberries & chocolate.

[en] hi peeps! you might already have discovered these beautiful and artistic pancake towers topped with loads and loads of beautiful fruits, chunks of chocolate and different sauces which totally overflow social media, especially instagram and which really make your mouth water. definitely #foodporn at its best!

some time ago i decided to try the creation of a pancake tower myself and i can say ... it was definitely worth doing it. le boy and me really indulged in this celebration of calories - a feast for the eyes as well as the pallete!

if you want to try it out yourself, you should definitely stop counting calories. you would feel too miserable and that would be a pity regarding the culinary delight.

it also doesn't take much longer than making the actual pancakes and it's great fun to get artistic in terms of decoration while having the smell of freshly baked pancakes in your nose ... mmmmmmh!

FOOD: handmade nigiri and maki sushi.

[en] hello my dears! today i want to show you some impressions of our very first selfmade sushi session. le boy and me love sushi very much, regardless of whether it is nigiri or maki sushi (and now also onigiri!). i have already made inari sushi before - those fried tofu bags filled with sushi rice (which are also eaten in korea where they are called yubuchobap, slightly different in shape and ingredients for the rice) but never tried maki and nigiri. maki sushi is also known in korea, where you have scrambled eggs inside, pan-fried sesame, cucumber, pickled radish and broad slices. so they are different to maki sushi in japanese cuisine where you mostly have solely one ingredient in the middle of your rice and nori slices. also they are very narrow and high. le boy and me chose traditional cucumber and pickled radish for our maki sushi. some rolls were made with one ingredient, others were combined.
for our nigiri we chose traditional tuna and salmon filets which we bought just a few hours before at the fresh fish counter at scheck-in in baden-baden and with the rest of our fish filets we created sashimi slices, bedded upon white radish slices.

and OMG it was DE-LI-CIOUS! you gotta try it. it's not that difficult to create your own sushi plate. it is solely important that you choose extremely fresh fish filets for your nigiri (because it is to be eaten raw) and water your hands regularly because the rice is really, really sticky.

in this post i will also share a recipe for sushi rice, so you can create your own sushi in time! enjoy!

FOOD: american pancakes with blueberries.

[en] hello my dears! today i've got a new foodie post for you. this time featuring one of my favourite breakfast/sweet-tooth/anytime-you-want-to-eat dishes: pancakes - the american way. i love them and every saturday me and le boy prepare them for a true breakfast feast, alongside obligatory maple syrup, bread buns, salami, ham, eggs and marmelade. we both already know the recipe by heart and they are oh so easy to make and they look lovely on white and golden vintage dishes. believe me: you won't get enough of them!

CHRISTMAS: rum truffles and marzipan potatoes.

hello, my dears! i have started my first christmas bakery session some days ago and today i want to share some of the results with you. this time i'm sharing some photos of my rum truffles and marzipan potatoes with you. i have made them last year for the very first time ever. marzipan potatoes are an all time christmas favourite of my dear brother, so i wanted to try out the recipe to gift him with some of them on christmas eve, and i succeeded. the rum truffles are a bit elaborate, especially if you grate all the chocolate yourself. each time i do that i have to time 30 minutes more for my baking session.

you can find the recipes of the rum truffles and the marzipan potatoes below.

i'm wishing you a wonderful holiday season!

VEGAN: homemade vegan apple tartelettes

these tiny totally tempting and delicious apple tartelettes were my very first vegan cakes i have ever made. i didn't think that it would be so easy to make vegan cakes. i thought 'omg how do i replace the egg etc.' and then i have read online that you simply could replace eggs with a banana. because it holds the dough together. and that's the only task egg's have to accomplish. if you don't want your cakes to have too much banana flavour you simply use one's which are still a bit green or simply some which are not so ripe. and butter can easily be replaced by margarine.

those tartelettes look great and taste great. if you got a sweet tooth then what would you want more?

VEGAN: homemade vegan pizza.

making your very own pizza dough isn't difficult - it's very easy! just like tarte flambée, you simply need very few ingredients which can be counted on the fingers of one hand. for the basic dough you need flour, yeast, water and olive oil. you can spice it up with sugar and a bit of salt, but you don't have to. thus it's very easy!

below you can read the exact amounts which you will need to mix the dough together.

you can add different toppings. tomato purée and vegan cheese are essential. what you add on top is free for you to choose. for my very first homemade vegan pizza i have chosen onion bits, tomato slices, kalamata olive slices and many different herbs and chili.

it's very delicious and oh so easy to make - you simply have to try it out yourself!

FOOD: dark chocolate cupcakes with popcorn topping.

ladies and guys, i have a new delicious cupcake creation for you!

for these deliciously looking lovely little cupcakes i have combined two recipes, and when you're based in germany you might already have read about them on two other blogs i like very much, because they got great food inspiration and great recipes.

first i took the popcorn cupcake recipe from 'miss blueberrymuffin' - the recipe says that you have to put peach bits and peach juice into the dough, but i didn't want that, so i decided to simply take the popcorn topping and combine the cupcakes with another recipe i have tried out previously: the dark chocolate cupcakes with matcha frosting from 'thank you for eating' - i liked the dark chocolate muffin base which i already have baked some days ago (you can see it here).

don't they look delicious? and they were delicious, too. i have tried them myself, and also pupils, friends and family. a pupil also said, they look a bit like 'modern art' - very cute :D but it's true! with low expenditure you can throw together a very lovely, delicious and elaborate cake creation.

FOOD: homebaked dark chocolate cupcakes with matcha frosting ♥

my dears, in this post i have prepared something new, amazing, and mouthwatering delicacies for you! some days ago i was in need for a new baking session - you know, i love to bake because it's fun and also very soothing when i feel upset or down. and i love to eat my own creations, but much more to gift them to people i love and to see their shining eyes.

i have found a very nice recipe on 'thank you for eating' (click here) for dark chocolate cupcakes with matcha frosting. i think that many of you know this bilious green tea powder already, THE new healthy lifestyle product. of course matcha was already known before and very popular in the japanese tea culture. made out of the rare tencha tea leafs, it is very high-priced but also full of healthy features such as many catechines, carotines and vitamine A, B, C and E.

today you can find matcha served pure, as an icecream flavour, as a nice addition in café latte, in japanese kitkat creations and of course in different cake creations such as the one i want to show you in this post!

FOOD: a simple korean dinner.

if we don't know what to cook, we always have the possibility to eat a simple korean dinner, which is absolutely tasty, variable and very easy to prepare!

  • first and above all things you need rice, THE base of every asian dish.
  • then you need  (or in western letters: gim), this is dried seaweed. in korea it is very cheap, but the import prices are exploding in germany. the last time we cooked this dish we didn't have some, but there's a good alternative:
  • big lettuce leafs! also tastes great (and you've got more to eat, haha).
  • then you need 고추 (or in western letters: go chu jang), this is also a good and spicy base for many korean dishes. it's a sauce made of rice, soy beans and chili - very very hot and very delicious!
  • this was the base! you can modify what to eat with it, fish, meat, pickled vegetables - there is no limit.
  • we always love to eat tuna with it. and mostly that's all!
  • ... but this time i also wanted to eat some garlic cloves, too - so i prepared another bowl with them.

you then just take a leaf of  or a lettuce leaf, fill it with 고추 and tuna, close it and put it in your mouth. this (you can see it in the last photo) is called  (or in western letters: sam), literally it means 3.

when preparing a korean meal, be mindful of giving each ingredient or dish their own bowl.

if koreans want to eat really big, you could find 70 to 100 little bowls on the dining table, and each would be filled with a different dish.

FOOD: my first rainbow cupcakes.

i pledge to colourize our lives! ... colour makes me happy, and baking, too. you should already have noticed that :) and since i'm not feeling so very well these days i had to bake again so i could lift up my mood myself. and this time, i also worked with loads of colours. i wanted to bake rainbow cake or cupcakes for a long time and now i succeeded - stop procrastinating, start creating! i can say that i really love the looks of these little delicacies, and that they also tasted oh so very delicious! the dough is quite easy to make, but the colourizing and filling was a bit costly in terms of labour, because you have to split the dough into six equal portions and then colour each one in a different colour (mine were violet, blue, red, yellow, orange and green). and actually i wanted to bake a rainbow cake, not cupcakes, but unfortunately our oven is knackered and we only have a mini oven. so i had to fill in every single cupcake form. it would have been less work-intensive if i had a single ring tin. but i'll keep it in mind for the next time :)

i decorated the rainbow cupcakes with an easy cream frosting and sugar sprinkles and candied roses, violets and lilacs.

... and what do you think of my little goodies?

FOOD: the worlds best chocolate chip cookies!

haha no i'm not extremely arrogant or obsessed with my baking skills (well, just a little XD) but this was the title of the recipe i tried some days ago. and indeed, these chocolate chip cookies could really take it up with those giant cookies you can find in subway restaurants and they taste much much better than my favourite american chocolate chip cookies from the supermarket - but that's not only my reward, but especially from the phenomenal recipe which you can find here: click!
